Creative storytelling and a little bit of magic
In just over twenty years, Main Reactor has become one of New Zealand’s leading props, prosthetics and make-up effects shop; servicing a wide range of clients across the international film, TV, installation and entertainment industries.
We have a wide range of experience and skills, and an abiding passion for the magic and imagination involved with make-up, special effects, props and prosthetics. Our philosophy? Behind every tricky problem there’s an exciting opportunity.
First and foremost, we’re here to help our clients to tell better stories. Using our problem-solving skills, we aim to bring their vision to the screen in the most stunning and imaginative way possible; using the most up-to-date technology in prosthetics and prop making. We’re a one-stop resource that takes away all the hassle for clients and production companies.
While you may not have seen us at work, you will have undoubtedly seen our work. We’ve been involved in everything from amazing props and effects in major television series’ like Spartacus, The Dead Lands and Legend of the Seeker, to visual effects and replica armoury in epic films such as Evil Dead – The Remake, The Last Samurai and Mulan.
The key to our success is the collaborative relationships we foster with key designers, producers and directors, offering the most cost-effective, seamless, integrated and professional services encompassing all areas of design and manufacture. Our team has a wealth of experience honed from years of working on fast turn-around, high production-value television and feature films. We love a challenge, and no job is too big or too small.
We’re proud to be the ‘go-to’ special effects, props and model making workshop in Australasia, and we also play an integral part of the key infrastructure in Auckland’s exciting and growing creative sector.
